Alcohol on FID
Hello everyone, I’m wondering if there are any alcoholic drinks that are allowed on the FID diet? Really wanting to celebrate with some :)

Hi Elaura,
Thanks for your question.
We understand that even when on FID there are special occasions where you want to enjoy a drink with loved ones! Opt for the low salicylate varieties that are sulphite free shown below:
whiskey (it is made from fermented grain such as barley, rye, corn or wheat)
gin (it is made from fermented grain such as barley or wheat)
vodka (it is made from potato)
Combos include vodka or gin mixed with mineral water, or whiskey and water.
Why these three? Gin, whiskey and vodka are low salicylate choices and they are preservative-free. BUT remember alcohol is histamine producing, and it is usually fermented, so it is not suitable for people with rosacea or histamine intolerance.
Try not drink more than three glasses per night, and no more than once a week — alcohol is not good for your skin ... but having a social life is so we do make exceptions on the programs. Just keep in mind that FID is a testing program so drinking alcohol may interfere with you results so we do not recommend drinking alcohol in those first few weeks of the program prior to testing foods.
Hydrate after drinking alcohol
After drinking, and before bed, drink a large glass of water with a pinch of salt mixed in to help rehydrate your body overnight. Just a tiny pinch of salt, it should be barely noticeable.
Please let me know if you have any other questions :)
