Baked beans

Hi, on FID and the Detox, you say no to baked beans, as in beans on toast baked beans, I mean 'traditional' baked beans from a tin or jar, or home made.

Presumably, in this case, it's just due to the tomato sauce they are in, amongst other stuff, as the cannelini and flageolet beans alone are part of the programme. Am I right?

Hi Rowenna 😊

Yes, you are correct. The reason for avoiding baked beans in the FID and Detox is primarily due to the high salicylate content found in the tomato sauce, as well as the potential addition of additives and flavors that can be irritating to the skin. While cannelini and flageolet beans are allowed on the program, it's the other ingredients in traditional baked beans that are of concern.

Alternatively, you could try replacing the tomato sauce in baked bean recipes with our

'Nomato' Sauce'. I think it would work well!
