Turkey

Hi! I was wondering if turkey is allowed in the FID program as it is not included in the FID Shopping list. If not, why? I'd like to add some variety to my daughter's meals. Thank you.

Hi Milagros, Alison is right! Turkey is low in salicylates and high in amines so is not recommended when following the FID and Eczema diet program. When testing turkey (or adding it back into your diet), avoid the turkey skin or leftover turkey. Quick cooking methods for turkey such as boiling or sauteing can also limit the development of amines.

For a low amine alternative, try fresh lamb, rabbit, beef or skinless chicken (and avoid leftover meats).
