Some encouragement please!
Hi there. My son has been on FID for almost 8 weeks, and a couple of weeks on the eczema diet before that. His skin isn't looking any better than when we started. He is taking skin friend AM and PM and hemp seed oil daily. We have tested for amines, and he reacted (hayfever/asthma symptoms but no change to eczema), so we are avoiding/limiting amines at this point. Salicylates didn't seem to make his skin any worse, or give any other reactions. We are testing gluten by removing oats and spelt, and have added oats back in so far with no change. He seems to have a weekly cycle (or thereabouts) of needing steroids. (I know we need to get off these but while we are in the testing phase we are using steroids as needed, but trying to limit as much as possible).
My next thought is to try removing potatoes. It would be so nice to increase the variety in his diet, but I'm thinking perhaps there's something he's eating regularly that is a problem. Or maybe it's just not diet related at all for him?? I'm worried his food selection is so limited, and we've been doing this for nearly 3 months.
Has anyone else had similar experiences? We're feeling a bit stuck!

Thank you Hayley. It's so helpful hearing your story. Yes, we have topical steroids in the mix, so I think it's going to be a bit of a long road. Stories like yours give us hope to keep going though! Thank you!
