Eczema flare up in Sun
Hi Bonnie/Karen. We are currently having our first spell of hot weather in the UK and my arms have just flared up badly. The flare ups are in the creases of my elbows. I have been out playing golf and took antihistamines before I played as I suffer from hay fever. The flare up came on quite suddenly the first time I played in the hot weather when I used sun cream and then got worse the next time I played (yesterday) when I used the same suncream. I have had eczema on and off most of my life. Am currently on FID for past 5 months and have been doing ok. I was wondering whether the Sun cream I have been using might have contributed to this? It's called Child's Farm and is apparently recommended for eczema sufferers. Have included a photo with the ingredients - could there be anything problematic in these ingredients?. Any tips on how I can prevent such flare ups going forward would be appreciated. Have ordered the Aveeno Suncream which you have recommended. Many thanks ! Mark

Hi Mark, looking at the ingredients on that sunscreen it’s a chemical sunscreen with salicylates, alcohol and benzoates high up the list. Octocrylene is problematic too. A safer choice is zinc oxide based sunscreens.
