One step forward....

I recently posted about my testing progress. Sadly I just flared up big time on my hands. I honestly am not quite sure what caused it. I tested egg which I reacted to (although I may be okay with it baked in cakes - I definitely had a reaction to egg on its own) sweet potato over a couple of days (seemed ok), tested a bit mango (to which I had a mild reaction) I then moved on to test carrot, all was okay for a few days then my hands flared up. I do wonder though as to whether I need to rethink the way I test. I am not sure my skin can tolerate testing one food then moving on to another after a few days? Am wondering whether I should simply test one food for a couple of days then wait a week before I test another? My issue is that when I think I have passed a test as I thought I had done with sweet potato, I then immediately start to eat large quantities of it (as I am so desperate to eat new foods having been on FID for nearly 7 months!). I was continuing to eat sweet potato whilst testing carrot and maybe the combination of the 2 was too much for my skin. Also I was eating a lot of marshmallows recently whilst testing. Again, I feel so deprived, when I think I can have a "treat" I do tend to overdo it!!!

Any views/guidance appreciated. Am getting a bit down about the fact that when I try and introduce new foods I seem to react to all of them!!! I am desperate to expand my diet again!

Thanks!

Hi Mark, I agree with the other comments. My tip is to not overdo it after you pass a test…

I could only eat a tiny bit of sweet potato daily for ages. Now I can eat tonnes of it daily. But that step (eating a lot of it) took about 6 months.

So just eat a mouthful of sweet potato daily, and just a mouthful of carrot daily. Or alternate the days (carrot one day, SP the next). You are retraining your brain to accept these foods as “good” and “safe” so your aim should be to “win” (pass the tests) each day, even if that means eating a pea sized amount. So you have already won with several of the tests. Great work! Keep testing, keep going, just cut back on amounts.
