Allergies

Hi, I have been struggling with the diet, because I have many food allergies: Balsam of Peru, Fragrance 1 and 2 which pertains to spices and herbs, also, compositae mix, which doesn't allow any sunflower product or lettuce, and my main one is a nickel allergy. Meaning no nuts, seeds or their butters and milks. No soy and whole grains and a lot of dark green veggies. I feel my diet is very limited with the low salicylate, no wheat, no dairy. I never know which food triggers what symptom. Mainly rashes and stomach and constipation. Which also limits my supplements. I am taking AM and my own calcium carbonate powder and Mg glycinate pill and Vitamin D drop. The only milk left would be rice milk, which I would have to make myself because of the additives. But also concerned about arsenic, and don't like the taste or texture, besides being careful as prediabetic. I need more alternatives for the recipes you are giving us and in the book. Is there anybody out here, that has nickel or other allergies?

Hi Heidi, thanks for your post and for sharing that information with us. I totally understand how difficult living with allergies can be. From my personal experience, I found having multiple allergies made grateful for the small things in life like wearing a t-shirt without flaring! I hope your experience have also given a sense of gratitude for the little things.

I actually also suffered with a nickel allergy however once I was able to calm down my crazy overactive immune system and heal my skin, the allergy went away and I can now tolerate nickel.

It sounds like you may need menu 4 from Karens recent publication The Healthy Skin Kitchen. It can also be found on our menu page here. Karen used this menu when she had severe histamine intolerance and salicylate intolerance. This way of eating stopped the itch — quickly clearing half of her symptoms — and made life bearable. We have plenty of recipes to enjoy on this menu all of which can be found in the FID section of our Recipe Finder. They are also linked on the menu.

Please let me know how you go and how we can be of any further assistance.

xx Bonnie
