Einkorn

Does anyone have any information on einkorn as a "histamine liberator" or not? Apparently wheat is in this category but spelt is on the ok list. I'm wondering what opinions on einkorn wheat are in relation to histamines and the skin. Thanks so much!

Body wash recommendation?

Hi there,

Does anyone have a recommendation for a body wash/cleanser? I have been using la Roche Posay AP t body wash but have extremely itchy inflamed and irritated skin where I use it so thinking it may not agree with me! I also noticed it contains SLS.

Does anyone have any recommendations for an alternative?

Thanks

Yes, Faith in Nature does a fragrance free one, and so do Child’s Farm. You could give them a try…

Butter replacement

Has anyone got a decent butter replacement?

This would be for a butter replacement that goes well on scones or tea loaf, ie that can carry something sweet.

Which might be the best eczema detox oils to blend to make something?

At this moment I’m just using the Sunflower oil, or rice bran oil, as hemp and olive oils are too acidic and savoury to carry something sweet on top. But as well, this is too thin and doesn’t have as much solidity or weight as dairy butter.

Any other options? What do you use?

Any advice or ideas appreciated.

Hi Rowenna,

I've seen unrefined red palm oil on some low histamine lists, but I don't know if it's been tested for amines or salicylates - if ok, it could possibly be mixed with the sunflower oil and a pinch of salt to make a more butter-like spread? There are organic, eco- and orangutan-friendly brands available 🙂.

Well done! You have completed the FID Elimination Phase (Level 2).

Completed FID Level2

Next steps?

Hi there, my 18 year old son did the FID diet about a year and a half ago, and we identified an amine sensitivity. Since then, we have been mostly avoiding or limiting high amine foods. His skin and hay fever are definitely better, but still not clear. We tested dairy and gluten on the FID diet, and there didn't seem any obvious issues. We don't have any mould issues. We are now working with a local integrative GP to see if we can make any more progress. We were using the AM and PM supplements for about a year, but my son really struggled with the flavour of the AM mix, so he no longer takes these. I guess I had hoped that after that length of time his gut might have healed and his skin would be close to clear, and he'd be able to eat normally again…

I’m sure that over time things will clear. I now do eat high amine foods, but not that much, nor very frequently, ie not as a base daily part of my diet. I moderate them, and I find in that way things don’t accumulate into a problem.

It took me a long time on FID as well, probably 2 years, and I’m still careful, but I got clear. I appreciate it must be so hard when you’re in your teens, but I hope these words are a little positive for you. Rowenna
