Eczema Diet

Well its been a rough ride with our teenage son Joseph, when we heard of this program we were so thrilled to try it and his skin did clear up tremendously. its been about 4 years or so and his skin has become so cracked especially in his folding areas where the arm bends opposite the elbow, we have been discouraged and tried the detox diet again and was overwhelmed by having to learn this program all anew. i purchased the latest buyers guide, thank you for that much better and clearer directions that weren't conflicting. His flareup seems to have started after the covid pfizer vaccine (we were so against the idea, that's another story I will not get into), that's when it seems to have gotten worse, although i must admit that the prior year before the vaccine, he couldn't really bend his arms much because of the cracking, the vaccine i think just made it worse. so we are up against a wall again, in hopes of getting him back on track with the guide, for now we had to resort to the oral steroids to give him some relief and it has, now we are thinking about getting him on dupixent to at least get his elasticity back in his arms, while at the same time we are going to get him back on the diet and eventually off the dupixent treatment. we have been using skin friend and rescue balm ,its helped but not as much as we had hoped for, so back to the drawing board. thanks again and any suggestions would be welcomed, thank you for inspiring hope!

Hi Jerry,

Thanks for your post. Firstly, so sorry to hear about Joseph's struggle with eczema. It’s painful, itchy and downright horrible to have angry inflamed skin. The broader pain of eczema takes place on many fronts and this notion ripples through to loved ones supporting those on the journey to healed skin, so we are here for you!

Can I confirm that since his flare following the vaccine Joseph has not tried The Eczema Detox or FID program? It sounds like Joseph may have some underlying chemical sensitivities that are contributing to his skin issues. I totally understand starting a new program can be overwhelming and that is one of the reasons we started The Healthy Skin Kitchen membership. The programs are now much easier to follow and there are so many more amazing recipes so Joseph's palette won’t ever get bored! Our program page here can help you figure out which program is best to start with.

Oral steroids are fine for a short time to give him some relief while he builds up his liver and gut health by doing the eczema detox or FID. In addition to this, I would recommend Joseph implementing some stress reducing activities into his routine if he isn't already. Meditation, gentle exercise, listening to our vagus nerve playlist, or having a bath and using our apple cider vinegar spray recipe are some of our favourites. I can imagine he is feeling very stressed since the recent flare up.

In terms of dupixent I would recommend giving the diet a go first (Detox and then if the skin does not improve try FID) before commencing this treatment to see if his issue is chemical food intolerance. Keep in mind that it can be different for everyone, you may find it can take one month or up to 6 months or more for his skin to clear up. Be patient and try not to introduce new foods to quickly (if doing FID) wait until your skin feels ready.

That’ s great to hear that he’s taking Skin Friend. Skin Friend works best when taken while also on the Eczema Diet so I’m excited to see how his skin goes while doing both.

I hope this has helped and please continue to keep us updated and ask your questions!
