Starting Solid

Hi! My baby is 5 months old turning 6 the end of the month. Planning to start solid as soon as possible but so taken back by the complicated and rigid list of food she can start eating =( She has red skin but not sure if they're itchy as she doesnt scratch them (yet?) she is only on breastfeeding milk.

  1. When i read the book it seems like the first foods she can try is only rice plain baby cereal, white potato , sweet potato, carrot (that if she doesnt react). the list of vegetables she can eat is just super hard (leeks?)

  2. it says that we need to introduce allergen food as soon as possible - when would you say we should introduce yoghurt, dairy products and the 12 dozen itchy food to the baby? after how many months?

  3. if they react to the food that i introduce and if she can only eat just a few food is that the only thing we should give to her? im worried she would be a picky eater if we dont introduce to her the different textures and food. so sad

  4. can i give am pm supplement to her when she starts solid? or should i wait?

- if yes can you please advice how to start giving it to her?

Thank you! an anxious mama!

Hi Katie,

Yes, absolutely did not go near the 12 itchy foods.

Literally just started of with

  1. Oat porridge

  2. Rice porridge

  3. Peeled Pear

  4. Carrot

  5. Sweet Potato

  6. French Green Beans

  7. Papaya

  8. Beet (severe rashes after 1 serving so we stopped)

  9. Strawberry (only 1x)

  10. Melon (only 1x)

  11. Banana (1x)

So right now all she is eating is oat/rice porridge with pear/carror/greenbeans im not sure where to go from here. Everytime we introduce something new it would flare up and not sure how to stop these rashes that never goes away.
